Synopsis : This is an interesting fairy tale written by Anuroop Chatterjee. It is set in the present India to make it's plot more realistic.
Are fairies real?
I am Bluei Bhatia, a seven year old girl from Bangalore. I am from a
Punjabi family. My father is a software engineer working in Microsoft. I don’t
know why they named me ‘Bluei’, I think this name came from my elder sister’s
name Pinky. My grandma is very careless lady. She forgets to take medicines on
time.
Once she had been in the hospital for months, for she had cancer. She
spent all the months in pain. The doctors told us that she may die. I knew that
she would be happier in heaven with fairies and God but I wanted her to live
with me and never die. When I am in tension I paint to relieve me. The Next
day, I had painted a fairy on a jar. A fairy with white wings, pink gown and a
beautiful diamond crown. I called the jar ‘fairy jar’. Night came and I saw a
fairy keeping something inside the jar. After that, she wrote something on a
paper and kept it near my fairy jar. She went up to the light and disappeared
that, I suppose, came from heaven or a fairyland. I woke up in the morning and
straightaway went to my fairy jar. I found my fairy jar and the piece of paper.
I saw a red colored paste inside the jar and a piece of paper beside it. First
I thought that something was written on the piece of paper but in a language I
don’t know but soon I realized that the paper was upside down and I had to turn
it to read it. I read “The paste is for your grandma. Give it to her and then
she would not go to God in heaven.” I found a clip with a picture of a fairy
and I think it was a present for me. In the hospital, I made grandma to eat the
paste. She was saved and now she is sitting with me knitting a sweater. I
thanked God for saving her. From that day I know that fairies are real and will
help us if we believe in them.
